It Has A Name, A History, And An Evidence Base Worth Describing Accurately

Dr John Myers, a Baltimore physician, developed an intravenous nutrient formulation in the 1960s and 1970s for patients with fatigue, migraines, asthma and fibromyalgia. He kept no detailed records of his formulations. After his death in 1984, Dr Alan Gaby took on many of his patients, reconstructed the formula from patient records and interviews, and standardized it. What clinics offer today as a Myers cocktail is Gaby's version, and it varies somewhat between practices. The core formulation is magnesium, calcium gluconate, B-complex vitamins, B12 and vitamin C in a sterile saline base. Gaby published a review in 2002 documenting observational data across more than 15,000 infusions, and he noted himself that the evidence was largely observational rather than derived from large controlled trials. The strongest controlled study is a 2009 Yale trial by Ali and colleagues, which gave 34 fibromyalgia patients eight weekly infusions against placebo. Both groups improved. There were no significant differences between them on the primary outcomes. The treatment was well tolerated. We state that plainly because you should know it before you book. What T Clinics USA offers at our Naples, Fort Myers, and Coral Springs clinics is a named formulation, disclosed composition, and a provider who orders it after evaluating you. Results vary by individual.

What The Best Study Actually Found

The strongest controlled trial of the Myers cocktail, published by Ali and colleagues at Yale in 2009, gave 34 fibromyalgia patients eight weekly infusions against placebo. Both groups improved, and there were no significant differences between them on the primary outcomes. Dr Gaby's widely cited 2002 review documented more than 15,000 infusions, but it was observational, and he said so. Placebo response in studies of fatigue and pain is consistently large. We are telling you this because a clinic that only shows you the favorable half of the literature is selling, not advising. What we can tell you with confidence is what is in the bag, who ordered it, where it came from, and who is administering it.

How It Works

How A Myers Cocktail Works Here

Hands typing on a laptop displaying a dashboard at a dim desk

01

PROVIDER ASSESSMENT AND ORDER

An infusion is ordered for you, not selected from a menu on a wall.

Your provider reviews your history, current medications and relevant labs before writing the order. Magnesium and calcium are not inert. Certain cardiac conditions, kidney function issues and medication interactions change whether this formulation is appropriate. Screening for those is a clinical step, and it is the step the wellness-lounge model routinely skips.

02

DISCLOSED COMPOSITION

You are told what is in the bag and in what amounts.

Because the Myers cocktail is not a standardized product, composition varies between clinics. Ours is based on Gaby's formulation: magnesium, calcium gluconate, B-complex, B12 and vitamin C. Ask any clinic for its exact composition. A provider who cannot tell you what is in an infusion is not in a position to tell you whether it is right for you.

Where the components come from is a clinical decision.

The FDA has cautioned that some compounders build sterile IV products using ingredients intended for oral supplements, and has issued recalls of injectable products over endotoxin and sterility findings. Components used here are sourced from licensed pharmacies under pharmaceutical-grade specifications, and the infusion is administered inside a medical clinic with clinical staff present.
